EUSD UPDATES

A Message from our Educational Services Department

We appreciate that many of our EUSD families are familiar with the concept of AI (Artificial Intelligence), which involves machines or computer systems performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. From virtual assistants to recommendation algorithms, AI is already a part of our daily lives.

We know that AI has been making its way into educational settings globally. Its integration is driven by its potential to enhance personalized learning experiences and equip students with skills vital for the future.

We also recognize your desire for your children to be prepared for the future. Our aim is to cultivate a learning environment that not only prepares your child for the digital age but also nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability. We have partnered with the San Diego County Office of Education’s Innovation Team to offer a variety of professional development opportunities for management, teachers, and staff to learn how to best use AI as a tool for teaching and learning. We will be developing a long-range plan of how AI may be used in our instructional programs in the future.

One of our district values is Innovation, where we are curious, creative and resourceful in pursuit of novel solutions to complex problems. We look forward to learning more about how AI can help us and our students be more innovative to support all learners.

At Encinitas Union School District, we are committed to igniting the limitless potential of all learners.

EUSD BRIGHT SPOTS!
EUSD values Joy, Belonging, Integrity, Service and Innovation

ECC fifth grade students are Empowered Learners and Innovative Thinkers.  They studied the current EUSD menu items, their popularity, and nutritional values and explored new menu options that could be offered.  As Confident Collaborators and Skilled Communicators, they worked with Lea Bonelli, EUSD Child Nutrition Director, and presented her new menu options, surveyed current students, and participated in taste testing new items.  As Wellness Advocates, they are excited to share that there are now new menu items that students are being offered.  They are marinated Greek chicken, sustained seafood, and corn dogs.  The students have identified that the choices they made are impacting not only their health and wellness but all students in EUSD.  Throughout the year, they will continue their passion about food while evaluating solutions and opportunities for future menu items.
