EUSD UPDATES

Dear Families,

In our rapidly changing world, the role of education in shaping global citizens cannot be overstated and it is an important competency in our Learner Profile. We define that as wanting all learners to be culturally aware and environmentally responsible, making a positive impact on their community and world.

Global citizens understand and embrace diverse abilities, cultures, traditions and customs. They actively are inclusive of people of different backgrounds and cultures.

Global citizens act responsibly toward the environment and understand the impact of their actions. They actively participate in creating equitable, just and sustainable communities.

In EUSD, we have a variety of ways we support students in this competency. A few examples are:

*Our curriculum includes a wide range of global perspectives. Students have the opportunity to explore various cultures, languages and world events.

*Our students may participate in cultural and identity awareness activities which can include cultural events and celebrations within a class or school to create an atmosphere of respect and appreciation for diverse backgrounds.

*Our students are immersed in eco-literacy education and a sustainable environment as they learn about waste diversion, water conservation and participate in activities both indoors and outdoors through our partnership with BCK Consultants.

*Our students actively participate in school-based and community service projects, both locally and globally, to understand and address real-world issues.

As we work together on the implementation of a deeper understanding of the Learner Profile, we are actively increasing the learning opportunities students have K-6 to build their skills as global citizens. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact our students will have on the world.

Warmly,

Andrée Grey, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Child Care Needs: End of the Year / Beginning of Next Year

We understand starting or ending a school year mid-week can be challenging in terms of child care.  We are exploring a day camp offering with our Right at School partners to support families on the non-school days during the week school begins and ends (ex: if school ends on a Thursday, Right at School Day Camp would be available that Friday).  In order to determine feasibility, we need to gauge how many families might be interested in this type of support.  Please click HERE to take a short childcare survey.

Prop 28 Arts Survey

As our planning committee looks at Prop 28 funding, we want to prioritize the area of Visual And Performing Arts (VAPA) that families feel should be amplified in our district. Part of our process is seeking feedback from our community.  We appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete this brief survey for our planning committee. Thank you!
